What a night. We smashed our previous attendance record, crashed our web server (and annoyed the hell out the hosting company in the process) and had four hours of pure gaming with the developers. We've heard nothing but positive feedback from you all, and we're delighted the developers are not only incredibly happy with what we pulled off, but are totally open to doing this again in the future. What more could we ask for?

We'd like to extend our thanks to all of the Gears Dev team and Epic staff that made this possible, it's been awesome. We'd also like to thank every one of you for your patience, participation and feedback on an event that took weeks of planning and preparation. We'd also like to thank all the people who recorded video from the night and kindly uploaded it for us - we thank you for filling the gap in our system which we are planning to fill for Season 2. We really REALLY appreciate that. And finally, I'd like to thank all the GCON staff and hosts for once more pulling off another week of kickass Gears action.

Winners were chosen by creating a long list of all names numbered in order they were recieved by hosts and using Random.ORG to generate the winning numbers. This draw included all prior entries from past GCON events.

PRE EVENT START INFORMATION

It's the last event of the Season, and boy are we going out with a bang. This week we are bringing you the biggest forum event you have ever seen - a chance to play with some of the biggest names in the Epic Development team, and meet the people behind the game you love. Not only that, but being the end of the season, we'll be giving out codes to people throughout our lobbies at random, drawing our end of season swag winners, and revealing a few surprises on the way.

This event will run a little differently, and has some major announcements coming your way on how that will happen over the next two weeks. Please check this OP daily for the latest information on how to attend and get involved. Rest assured, this should be much more accessible than prior Game with Developers events and much more focused on getting the people from this Community meeting the people you want. Scroll down for our current Epic Developer attendance list (keep checking back as more can be confirmed, or some can drop out!).

Finally, our heartfelt thanks goes out to all the Epic Developers who have agreed to give up their time to do this event, and an even bigger thanks to the awesome Lee Perry for taking the time to listen and arrange such an event with GCON.

Each Epic Dev will provide their own mixture of modes and events for the night.

How to Attend GCON 1.7

The event takes place on Saturday 27th February at 10pm GMT / 5pm EST / 2pm PST and will end at roughly 2am GMT / 9pm EST / 5pm PST.

We have three main methods of attendance. All three methods will get you into lobbies, however, they have been listed in order of likelihood of an invitation. Please note that we expect this to be an extremely busy night, so you must accept invitations FAST.

After two - three complete games in a lobby, all attendees will be booted from the lobby to allow a whole new set of players to play. You can rejoin, but please note that we will be keeping track of how many times an individual has attended a lobby - if we feel an individual is hogging a space in one of our lobbies, you may be removed without notice. Please try to cycle your attendance through various accounts throughout the night to prevent yourself being constantly removed instantly from a particular lobby - we recommend attending a particular lobby no more than twice in a night unless told otherwise.

Using our Live Event website
Go to http://www.gearscon.com/live and sign up for an account. Then follow the three steps in the "Tutorial - An Introduction to the Minisite" to discover the best way to get into one of our lobbies!

Adding a GCON Gamertag
All gamertags are now full. Please use an alternate method.

Directly Messaging a Host
On the night of the event, we will be posting up a full list of all the hosts paired up with a developer. Next to each host name will be a link to directly message that host for an invitation over Xbox.com - make sure you include that you are requesting an invite in the message so the host can give you a chance to join when space opens up. This is the least effective method however, as hosts will be prioritising invites from our Live Event website over direct messages.

How To Win A Prize

The Prizing System is simple, fair and easy. By entering one of our GCON lobbies on the night and finishing one full game, win or lose, you have earned your entry into our raffle draw for prizes. That's it! It really is as simple as that. Note that you do NOT gain an entry per lobby, so don't think jumping from host to host get's you on the list more than once - we check our final lists for multiple entries using a check system that ensures your name can only appear on the night's prize list once.

If you win one of our prizes tonight, you'll see your name appear on our prize winners list on the 1st March 2010 in this thread and you will be notifed via the Xbox Live account you used on the night. All you have to do is respond to the message meeting our requests so we can ensure you meet our prize eligibility requirements. If your eligible to win, Hooligunn will contact you about your prize.

How To Be Eligible For A Prize

You must be a member of the Gears of War forums
You must not be a banned member of the Gears of War forums
Your account must have been created at least a month before the Prize Night.
You must not have won a GCON Prize within the last three months (seperate for swag / code draws)

You must play at least ONE FULL MATCH (from the lobby beforehand to the lobby at the end)
You must not cheat / glitch within any of our lobbies
You must not abuse or demean any people in our lobbies. It's not how we roll.

GCON is looking for hosts from around the globe to host lobbies for us. We're looking for people with good connections, dedication and confidence to head up our lobbies - as a host of GCON, your representing us.
